Fertility Acupuncture
I offer fertility acupuncture here in the North East, at my Durham Clinic. As a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, I have undertaken additional TCM Fertility training courses to further support my patients.
Fertility acupuncture offers natural support for those trying to conceive, whether naturally or alongside assisted reproductive techniques. All fertility consultations include an in-depth medical history, covering past pregnancies, any children you or your partner may have, and your journey so far in trying to conceive. Understanding your full health picture allows me to tailor treatment specifically to your needs, providing a Chinese medicine diagnosis alongside pulse and tongue diagnosis to offer the most effective acupuncture treatments.

Supporting you at every stage of your fertility journey

Trying to conceive (TTC) for less than 12 months
If you have been trying to conceive for under a year, I can offer advice on timing and frequency of intercourse, as well as guidance on diet and lifestyle factors that may support your fertility. Acupuncture treatments during this time are based on a Chinese medicine diagnosis which aim to regulate cycles, improve reproductive health, and support overall wellbeing. Typical fertility treatment plans include weekly acupuncture sessions for 12 consecutive weeks, though treatment can be continued for up to six months if needed. Simple changes, such as stress management, dietary improvements, and understanding your cycle, could make a significant difference.

Trying to conceive (TTC) for 12-24 months
If you have been trying to conceive for over a year, we may discuss possible tests and referrals to rule out any underlying issues. Alongside acupuncture treatments, we continue to provide tailored TTC advice which includes cycle tracking, diet, and lifestyle recommendations to optimize your chances of conception. Your treatment will be based on a Chinese medicine diagnosis during this time, with fertility treatment plans typically including weekly acupuncture sessions for 12 consecutive weeks, with the option to extend treatment up to six months if necessary. This approach helps to regulate cycles, improve ovulation, and support reproductive health.

Fertility investigations
If you are undergoing fertility investigations, acupuncture may provide valuable support during this time. While reviewing test results, your treatment will be based on a Chinese medicine diagnosis to help balance your body, regulate cycles, and address any underlying imbalances that may be impacting fertility.

Consultant-led care
For those already receiving consultant-led fertility treatment, I will work alongside your medical care to offer complementary acupuncture support. Whether you are undergoing IVF, IUI, or other assisted reproductive treatments, acupuncture may help to reduce stress, improve blood flow to the reproductive organs, and support overall wellbeing.
Tracking your cycle and optimising fertility
Understanding your menstrual cycle is key to optimising fertility. I can offer support with ovulation tracking and menstrual cycle monitoring which can help you to recognise the different phases of your cycle and identify your most fertile days. Acupuncture may also assist in regulating cycles, improving ovulation, and supporting conditions such as irregular periods, PCOS, or endometriosis.
Tracking your cycle with body temperature or luteinising hormone (LH) strips isn’t meant to be stressful. If this is an additional stress, don’t worry! You do not need to do this and I can still advise you about your cycle without it.

Claire is highly knowledgeable and intuitive when it comes to discussing symptoms and conditions. But more importantly for me, Claire’s space holds no preconceptions or judgements.

A holistic approach to fertility
All consultations include guidance on lifestyle factors that may impact fertility, such as stress reduction, exercise, weight management, and Chinese medicine dietary advice. Factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, and occupational influences that could affect reproductive health are also assessed. The advice given is designed to be practical and easy to implement—these are not rigid rules, but simple strategies to support your journey to parenthood.
