Northern College of Acupuncture, York

I studied inside the infamous red door of the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA) for four years.

4,000 hours of training

Prior to graduating, I studied a BAAB accredited degree. This equates to thousands of hours of in-person and supervised training.

I’m based in Pod 1 of WBCo Clinic, just next to the reception. The clinic has Wi-Fi, toilet facilities and a waiting area which smells divine.

I’m based in Durham, and trained for four years at the NCA in York.

My journey began in 2018 when I received acupuncture to help ease the side effects of chemotherapy for breast cancer. The profound impact it had on my recovery sparked a realisation, I wanted to retrain as an acupuncturist to support others.

In 2020, I embarked on a four-year degree in Acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree and opened my clinic room in Durham in September 2024.

Services

Qualifications and Training

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), I am committed to completing annual CPD to continually enhance my skills and provide the highest standard of care.

BSc Honours Degree

I was awarded a BSc Honours degree in Acupuncture with First-Class Honours.

Additional TCM Fertility Training

I have attended two supplementary TCM Fertility Courses.

Paul Johnson – Acupuncture for Fertility and IVF Support @ The City College of Acupuncture, London, in May 2024.

Irina Szmelskyj – Specialist Fertility Acupuncture in October 2024.

Oncology Acupuncture

Following training in Oncology acupuncture at the NCA, I attended an observational day at the Trinity Holistic Centre at James Cook Hospital.

I also have personal experience of cancer. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and subsequently underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and ongoing endocrine treatment.

Advanced Auricular NADA training

As well as training in the NADA protocol at the NCA, I undertook an extensive three-day training course with the NADA training team. I have maintained my NADA membership and undertake refresher training every 12 months.

Reiki

In 2021 I trained in Usui Reiki with Gena King at Heart and Soul Reiki. I have since gone on to study Level Two Reiki and become a Reiki Master.

First Aid

I completed Emergency First Aid at Work with Holos Healthcare and Training in 2024.
